Alan Daugherty named CEO of SageWest Health Care
March 20, 2017
SageWest Health Care announced today that Alan Daugherty has been named the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the two-hospital system, effective April 3. Daugherty most recently served as CEO of Parkview Regional Hospital (PRH) and Ennis Regional Medical Center (ERMC), two LifePoint Health facilities in east Texas.
“Alan is a proven leader who has significant experience transforming and operating multi-hospital systems,” said Robert Klein, president of LifePoint’s Western Group, of which SageWest is a part. “Throughout his tenure with LifePoint, he has proven his commitment to delivering high-quality, safe care close to home for the communities we serve, and I know that he will bring these attributes and so many more to the Riverton and Lander communities.”
A highly-skilled operator of multi-hospital systems, Daugherty has more than 30 years of leadership experience in healthcare. During his tenure at PRH and ERMC, Daugherty was instrumental in recruiting top-notch physicians, building a strong culture of safety and engagement, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction – across both campuses.
Prior to PRH and ERMC, Daugherty held numerous interim leadership roles within LifePoint facilities and served for nearly five years as CEO of Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, Louisiana. During his time at Mercy Regional, Daugherty was recognized as LifePoint’s 2011 CEO of the Year for his exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to delivering quality care close to home.
“Our board has been so impressed with Alan – particularly his depth of experience, attention to quality care, dedication to ensuring patient and physician satisfaction, and commitment to community,” said Mike Jones, chair of SageWest Health Care’s Board of Trustees. “We are confident that he is the right leader to fill this important role and help guide our health system forward.”
Daugherty has been an active and involved member of the communities he has served. He is currently a board member for Ennis Chamber of Commerce and the Ennis United Way. He is also a member of the Ennis Lions Club and serves on U.S. Representative Joe Barton’s advisory board. Daugherty previously served as a board member for Louisiana State University, Eunice; the City of Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce; and the State of Louisiana Workforce Investment Board. He also spent three years as a resident professional in healthcare management at the University of Louisiana, Monroe.
“As a healthcare leader, my top priority is people – patients, physicians, employees and community members,” said Daugherty. “I look forward to working collaboratively to fulfill our vision of creating a healthcare system where people choose to come for care, physicians want to practice and employees want to work.”
Daugherty replaces Tracie Stratton, who has served as interim CEO of SageWest since December, in addition to her role as VP of nursing and clinical operations for LifePoint’s Western Group. Stratton will remain involved with SageWest and provide support to Daugherty and the administrative team, as needed.
