Special walk-in screenings are available Wednesdays and Fridays in May at our Lander campus and in July at our Riverton campus.

3D mammography, the most advanced technology for detecting breast cancer, is now available at SageWest Health Care Lander, in a newly renovated mammography suite designed for more comfort while delivering more clarity. SageWest Riverton also offers 3D mammography.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women in the United States, with more than 250,000 breast cancers diagnosed each year. The key to effectively treating breast cancer is early detection, and the key to early detection is 3D mammography technology like GE Healthcare’s Senographe Pristina system, now in use at SageWest Lander and SageWest Riverton.

“3D mammography provides more detailed images that not only enhance breast cancer detection and diagnosis, but also lessen the chance of false positives,” said Edwin Butler, MD radiologist at SageWest Health Care. “And the design of our new machine is much more comfortable and easier to use for both the patient and the technologist.”

From its elegant lighting and gentle, rounded shapes – to a host of comfort-enhancing features – the GE Pristina system helps ease patient anxiety and reduce the chance of movement, resulting in a better overall exam experience. The system enables excellent visualization, providing an exceptionally sharp and detailed picture for breast cancer detection and diagnosis.

Residents of Fremont County can see the system and the new mammography suite at SageWest Lander firsthand at an Open House scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

You can also call 307.857.3463 to schedule a screening.

And, to make mammograms even more accessible, SageWest will offer “walk-in” mammography screenings every Wednesday and Friday in May and July, at these times and locations:

  • May: SageWest Lander, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays
  • July: SageWest Riverton, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays

Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer among women in the United States, second only to skin cancer. Routine breast care is important because early detection of any problem greatly improves your chances of successful treatment. Mammograms are typically recommended annually or every other year for women starting at age 40.

SageWest is now providing the best technology in a comfortable environment – and offering walk-in screenings – to make these essential screenings as easy to access as possible.

We want you to be well and live well. That’s why we’re here.
