Fremont County, Wyo. (February 25, 2026) – SageWest Health Care is excited to welcome board-certified general surgeon Dr. Carl Jackson. He is now offering general surgery services at SageWest, and providing care to patients at the Wind River Clinics in Riverton and Lander.

Dr. Jackson has more than 33 years of experience as a general surgeon, offering comprehensive care including Advanced Laproscopic procedures, colonoscopies, hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, mastectomies, thyroid and parathyroid procedures, upper GI endoscopies, and vascular access surgery for dialysis and cancer patients. His path to medicine began after earning a degree in chemical engineering. While working in industry, he realized his true calling was in healthcare and made the leap to medical school - where he quickly discovered that surgery was where he belonged.

“What I enjoy most about surgery is the ability to help people and see the immediate impact of that care,” said Dr. Jackson. “Whether it’s relieving pain, resolving an urgent problem, or guiding someone through a difficult diagnosis, my goal is always to keep things simple and do what is in the patient’s best interest.”

Dr. Jackson emphasizes listening as the foundation of his practice. He works closely with patients to understand their concerns, recommend appropriate screenings, and support long-term health through evidence-based guidance.

Outside the operating room and serving patients, Dr. Jackson enjoys tennis, jazz music, movies, and reading. He also has an interest in French and Spanish - though he jokes that Google Translate remains his most fluent second language.
