Dr. Wetherington brings a thoughtful, patient‑centered approach to medicine and a deep commitment to caring for individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments.

Dr. Wetherington earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his Family Practice Residency at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio. His interest in medicine began early, inspired by shadowing a local physician and later working in medical records during summer breaks—experiences that shaped his desire to support patients through every stage of their healthcare journey.

As a Family Medicine physician entering Hospital Medicine, Dr. Wetherington values the opportunity to care for patients during critical times. “I enjoy helping patients in their healthcare journey,” he said. “Hospitalist Medicine allows me to support people during some of their sickest days, and that is a responsibility I take to heart.”

His care philosophy centers on treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. He believes that while modern medicine cannot always fix or heal, the art of medicine extends beyond science alone, grounded in presence, compassion, and understanding. Dr. Wetherington also speaks some Spanish and has participated in medical mission work in the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his horses and dogs, as well as hunting and being outdoors.
